Kaymer Wins Scottish Open.

Hello All,

Well, after a terrific four days of golf at Loch Lomond, Germany's Martin Kaymer became The Scottish Open champion on Sunday. Kaymer had a final round 69 for a 15 under total and a two shot victory over Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and Raphael Jacquelin. This victory made it two in a row for the young German, who also won last weeks French Open in Paris, to take his winnings to just over 1 million pounds in a week.

Despite living not too far from the Loch Lomond course, I made my first visit to the tournament at the weekend. And I have to say it was everything I expected. The course was presented in immaculate condition, but the setting, with the loch as the centrepiece and the surrounding hills, make it a truly magical place. With the weather being at it's best, I would say it is a course to rival any in the world.

And now we move on down the west coast to Turnberry, for The British Open. I'm sure young Kaymer will take plenty of confidence into this week, as will a few others after their performances at the weekend. But this will be a totally different test of golf, and with a few more "names" competing, like Tiger and Garcia it will be interesting to see how the young guns get on. More reports as the week progresses.
